P&W Core Team Culture
P&W is ranked #15 among the Houston area’s 300+ architectural practices. We are the only mid-sized firm on the list and the only one solely dedicated to the specialization of healthcare and research.
With P&W, our entire firm IS a core, specialty team. All of our designers and our supporting personnel are dedicated to healthcare and research projects and clients.
As such, P&W functions as a relatively flat organization, with no barriers among Team members and maximum knowledge collaboration. Because we are a mid-sized firm dedicated to a specialized type of client, we have the luxury of total office integration and the ability to seamlessly transition our architects from one project to the next with no learning curve or disruption in logistics and reporting. Each of our staff has been able to work with all of the managing Partners at different times on different projects, thus encouraging a wholly cooperative atmosphere throughout our office.
How we are organized tells the best story about how we operate...open, flexible, by project responsibility, with ample space for discussions, encouraging relationships, innovative, respectful of people, their ideas and experiences. Our Partners encourage an “open door” policy for collaboration and problem solving. Literally, our internal offices have no doors.
P&W does not remain mid-sized because we have to, but because we choose to. Our goal was not to be the biggest, just the best at serving our clients. We are efficient and enthusiastic in how we work with one another and this translates to an efficiency and enthusiasm in the design process - the benefits of which are directly passed on to our clients in terms of quality, budget and schedule, on projects delivered with vision and passion. |

P&W Office Award Winning - 2004 Design Award, Society for American Registered Architects
Within the new 8,100 square foot open area, P&W is able to practice what we preach. Our designers created a demonstration space that showcases the same features we recommend to clients: energy efficiency, quality lighting, daylight access, and sustainability. We also created a novel office environment - one that cleverly rises above the paradigm of the typical lease-tenant-buildout of speculative office building space.
Using raised access panels with under-floor HVAC, modular power and data systems, occupancy sensor lighting and sustainable materials, our own office demonstrates the flexible technologies we often incorporate in our clients’ facilities.
