Comments from M. D. Anderson Cancer Center about PhiloWilke:

“The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center’s Emergency Center’s project posed many challenges due to its location with patients, staff and visitors. The location of the new Emergency Center project was constructed in one of the most highly concentrated areas of patient population, visitors, M. D. Anderson staff services, access routes to food and dinning services and other administrative support areas. Some of those challenges include ensuring the best construction safety practices by implementing Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM) and Infection Control measures between the construction areas and the patients/staff during hospital, clinic and dining services business hours. Other challenges include coordination of mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) shutdown while maintaining essential MEP services in the hospital, Dining Services and other business support areas. As a result of teamwork between PhiloWilke, General Contractor, M. D. Anderson’s Project Manager and many other M.D. Anderson Patient Care and Facilities Management staff, the EC project is very successful in its design and will provide The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Emergency Center patient care services for many years.” - Otto E. Akers, Environmental Health & Safety
